The Firestone BuildingSubmitted by ADSLA on Fri, 01/20/2012 - 19:22
The ADSLA Preservation committee has submitted a nomination to the City of Los Angles to designate the Firestone Building, 800 S. La Brea, as a Historical Cultural Monument. The Firestone Building is an excellent example of Streamline Moderne architecture. Built in 1937 by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, it continues to serve the area today as an automotive repair and tire shop. The ADSLA believes the building to be threatened by the increase in new development in the area of Wilshire and La Brea.
We will keep you posted regarding the status of the nomination, and ways in which you can help preserve this, and other, historic Art Deco architecture in Los Angeles.
