Leuzinger High School Threatened

Leuzinger High School iin the Centinela Valley Union High School District (CVUHSD) is at risk of demolition. Proposed projects within the CVUHSD could include the demolition of this eighty one year old campus.
The LHS is located on Rosecrans Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard. The school opened in 1930 with some buildings designed by local architect T.C. Kistner of the firm Kistner, Wright & Wright. The Main Building and a PWA Moderne gymnasium were partially financed through the Public Works Administration grant.
We join many other historic preservation organizations in urging the CVUHSD to agree to an environmental review process consistent with CEQA to determine the potential impacts to any project located on the campus.
The ADSLA Preservation Committee will continue to monitor the treat to Leuzinger High School. Meanwhile, you may sign up to help a coalition of historic groups at Save Leuzinger’s legacy on Facebook.
